Q: New Constitutional Safeguards for "Property"?

When the U.S. Constitution was adopted, the contentions regarding slavery resulted in quite a bit of compromise regarding what it had to say on the rights of Property. Some protections of it were included, as in the 5th Amendment, but care was taken to avoid stating more explicitly the absolute character of this natural right because to do so would reinforce the intention of some States to persevere in maintaining the peculiar institution of people owning people as "Property". The 20th century resulted in government gaining more and more ground over the Individual in the contest as to how much influence can government have in 'regulating' and/or taking private property for an alleged public use or purpose, the 16th amendment, income tax, being the most serious attack on the rights of individuals in this matter. The income tax is really an excise tax, which is a tax on privilege. The government can not of course tax the exercise of a Right because as the Supreme Court observed early on "the power to tax is the power to destroy". The advances of government have at this stage resulted in no man's Property being completely secure against it. At the time of the adoption of the Constitution most people made their living from their own land and very few were "employers" or "employees". Now the case has been reversed. Most Americans make their living through employment. The courts regard employment as being a privilege and therefore a proper subject for taxation. As seen from recent history, the income tax has approached 90% in come cases. This is possible because there are no limits on how much government can tax "income" from wages or other income. My contention is that to the degree government takes my wages, to that degree I am a slave. I am currently 25% slave. Other (non income) taxes amount to another 25% although in some of these cases I can avoid the tax by not pursuing the activity. In many ways other than the income tax our property and the rights thereof are subject to confiscation by government. Civil forfeiture, changes in the allowed uses of land, impounding vehicles for frivolous reasons, etc etc etc make nothing secure. The biggest problem we face right now lies in not having a sound money system. The hidden tax of inflation is pernicious and the faults of 'faith-based' paper money will soon become very apparent, but that's another letter. LET'S DO SOMETHING to increase the safety of our property in all its forms from the predations of government! I ask for suggestions.

A: Vote out the GOP/DNC politicians & replace them with 'Constitutionally based 3rd party REPRESENTATIVES of & for the people', would be a NICE starting point! Do you agree???
