Q: What is best for stepkids? Moving every few years with mom, or breaking away and living we me/their dad?

3 stepchildren - 1 away in college, the other 2 in 6/9th grades. Primary physical custody with mom, but we live 1 mile away & see them freq. Husband & ex have been divorced for 7+ years; she doesn't work and no income other then the alimony & child support($60K/year...after tax!) Her "income" is going down each year as the alimony drops &cs goes away when sd graduates HS. As her "income" goes down, she says she is finding it more and more difficult to meet expenses. They were leasing house at the time of divorce & since then, she has moved once in same nbrhd to another leased house. The owner is selling house so she needs to find new place to live. She doesn't have down payment for house, & rents are apparently above her current budget. She is slowly looking at places in another town (same state, near us). Is it better for the kids to live with mom, even if it means moving every few years? Or better to live with us in the same place, even if a custody battle?

A: it is better for them to be in a stable environment,,, it never really matters what is best for the kids, unless the mom is a drug addict she will keep custody, it's sad but true, if she has money problems the judge will be happy to increase the child support
